FNS50322 - Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management

Course Description

This qualification reflects management roles in finance and mortgage broking where work is undertaken independently, through an aggregator, or involves managing a workplace team. At this level individuals are expected to apply theoretical knowledge and specialised skills in a range of situations and display initiative and judgement in completing activities. They have autonomy in performing complex technical operations and may be responsible for the work of others within broad but generally well-defined parameters.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification considerations

Work functions in the occupational areas where this qualification may be used are subject to regulatory requirements.

Students who complete this course may be eligible to apply for an Australian Credit Licence (ACL) or to become an Authorised Credit Representative (ACR).

Students who complete this course may be eligible to apply for membership to the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFFA).

Note: Before applying for an ACL, ACR or MFFA membership students typically must also obtain at least two (2) years industry experience.

Entry Requirements

Immaculate Education and Training has the following entry requirements:

Students must:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • Australian/New Zealand citizen or permanent Australian resident
  • participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs
  • have sufficient Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills as tested through a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessment.
    Students will need to achieve ACSF level 3 for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication to enter the course.
  • During the course, students will be required to complete some activities using computers, laptops, or other devices.
    While the trainer can provide some assistance, it is expected that students have some basic computer skills before commencing the course.
  • Bring your own device (BYOD) – All learners are expected to bring their own laptop with the Windows 7 operating system or higher. the College premises are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi for the students’ usage.

Assessment Arrangements

Assessment will occur through a variety of methods. Assessment conditions will also ensure a simulated workplace environment.

Assessment tasks:

  • reflect real life work tasks
  • are required to be performed within industry standard timeframes as specified by assessors in
  • relation to each task
  • are assessed using assessment criteria that relate to the quality of work expected by the industry
  • are performed to industry safety requirements as relevant
  • utilise authentic workplace documentation
  • require students to work with others as part of a team
  • require students to plan and prioritise competing work tasks
  • involve the use of standard, workplace equipment such as computers and software
  • ensure that students are required to consider workplace constraints such as time and budgets.
Pathways

Potential employment options are management roles in finance and mortgage banking across a range of industries. Occupational titles could include:

  • Mortgage Broking Manager
  • Finance Broker
  • Insurance Broking Manager
  • Mortgage Broker

Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into a range of Advanced Diploma level qualifications or higher education qualifications in accounting or finance management such as Bachelor of Applied Commerce.

Course Credit

Students may apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge, and experience (credit transfer or recognition of prior learning). The granting of course credit may affect course fees as well as the duration of the course.
