CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations
This qualification reflects the role of a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, and screening entry, monitoring behaviour, and removing persons from premises. Security officers may work alone or work in a team environment under general supervision, operating with limited autonomy and judgement to complete routine but variable tasks, with some accountability and responsibility for their own outputs, work, and learning.

- Self-Paced Pre-Reading/Research: 100 hours

- 18 years of age or over
- Australian/New Zealand citizen or permanent Australian resident
- Have a valid Driver’s Licence, Photo Card or Customer Number from NSW Roads & Maritime Services
- Are a fit and proper person to hold the class of licence sought.
- Are competent to carry out the activities of a security guard
- NSW security course students are required to read and sign the NSW police P1016 declaration and Acknowledgement of Ground for Refusal of Security Licence (such as convictions, or finding of guilt, for certain declared offences and considerations such as whether the person is fit and proper to hold security licence).
- Meet prescribed Language, Literacy and Numeracy requirements, which include completing a Security License Pre-Enrolment test prior to enrolment day.
- You must attend in person at the Immaculate Education and Training campus in order to complete the testing and to read some mandatory paperwork from the NSW Police Force. This must be done before the course commences. You will not be enrolled unless all induction testing and paperwork has been completed prior to the first day of training.
- Have already attained and hold a current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid unit of competency. Students must submit the Completion Certificate and transcript of the current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid unit of competency, as evidence alongwith the application as a part of enrolment process.
- During the course, students will be required to complete some activities using computers, laptops, or other devices. While the trainer can provide some assistance, it is expected that students have some basic computer skills before commencing the course.
- Bring your own device (BYOD)-All learners are expected to bring their own laptop with the Windows 7 operating system or higher. The College premises are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi for the students’ usage.

CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is designed for individuals looking to start a career in the security industry. This qualification is ideal for those who are interested in providing essential security services in various settings such as commercial properties, events, retail spaces, and more.
This qualification is intended to align with the following occupational licensing outcomes:
- security officer – unarmed guard
- security officer – crowd controller.
Occupational titles could include:
- security officer
- unarmed guard

It provides a pathway to further learning and work in various security roles and settings including, but not limited to:
- armed guarding
- cash-in-transit
- close protection
- control room operations
- guard dog handling.

The range and format of all assessment methodologies and resources/tools to be used are designed to meet the Assessment Requirements identified within the Unit of Competencies. We have/will implement the following assessments:
- Performance Evidence – Assessments include the opportunity for the student to provide evidence of their ability to perform the tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of the units to manage tasks and contingencies in the context of the job role. Evidence will be collected as follows:
- Knowledge Evidence – Assessments include observations to support their written work and research. All evidence collected by the student must demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively satisfy the elements and performance criteria of the units to manage tasks and manage contingencies in the contact of the work role.
- Assessment Conditions – Assessments of the students’ skills will be undertaken in an environment that will allow the student to demonstrate their skills and knowledge, these include evidence of simulations and work-based proof, as required. Simulated assessment environments include real-life working environment simulations where skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment. This may mean video recordings provided as evidence of the demonstration.
- Assessor Requirements – Assessors must satisfy the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors and have a minimum of three years’ experience within the industry that they will be training.

Students can apply for RPL to get recognised as competent for parts or a whole nationally recognised qualification by providing evidence of their previous training, employment experience or other life skills that meet qualification requirements. Successful applications may result in a reduced training time.
Although the above elaborate the RPL process for this course, however, it is recommended to complete the full training and assessment as per the course requirement to get better understanding.
All students can apply for credit transfer. This means that they can submit evidence for a Unit(s) of Competency and have it assessed by a qualified Assessor without completing the training.
Students who consider they already possess the competencies identified in all or part of any course/qualification offered by may seek recognition. The Student Support Officer will help them in this process.
As a part of entry requirement of the course CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations, students are required to complete and hold the current Completion Certificate and transcript of the Unit of competency HLTAID011 Provide First Aid unit of competency. They must submit the evidence of completion of this unit of competency along with the enrolment application form. Based upon which, the student Support Officer will guide you to fill in the credit transfer form to get the credit (CT) of the completed Unit of competency which will also be reflected in your final Record of Results.
